In 1972, the designer Elsa Peretti embarked on a journey that would shape her legacy. From humble beginnings, purchasing a modest cottage in Spain for a mere few thousand dollars, to becoming an icon celebrated by Tiffany & Co., the renowned jewelry and design house she partnered with 50 years ago.
To honor her memory, Tiffany & Co. has unveiled three new pieces: a bone ring, a split cuff ring, and a bone cuff in 18-karat gold adorned with pavé diamonds. These creations embody organic sensuality and timelessness, echoing the essence of Elsa’s discovery in the picturesque village of Sant Martí Vell in Catalonia, Spain.
Elsa’s story is one of resilience and creativity. Despite initial family disapproval, she charted her own path by teaching French, working as a ski instructor, delving into interior design, modeling in New York City, and ultimately venturing into jewelry design. Her innovative pieces drew inspiration from diverse sources – from nature like snake skeletons to everyday objects like horse saddle elements.
